I had read some reviews that made this book sound like it was not up to par for Janet Chapman's series. I decided to finally purchase and read it and I must say it was very good! It was fun, funny, with a little mystery and of course magical. Loved the banter and adventure the h/h shared. Got lost in the beauty of the area the story takes place in. Wonderful description. Delightful hijinks by the hero to stake his claim for the heroine. All around great sub characters, most of who you know if you follow the series. I definitely recommend.
I would love to see a television series or DVD series based on Janet Chapman's Highlander and related series. It has the magical theme and time travel aspects that are so popular lately but would be light, more positive and upbeat than so much that's out there's today. I don't think I'm the only one who is tired of the constant dark, infighting, and rare happily ever afters that come only after extensive negativity.
Janet Chapman's characters are admirable women and men and would make for a positive, intelligent, exciting and fun movies or series. I. I Wonder if Ms Chapman would consider this. The huge sales of her books show quite a lot of fans who would love it and in my opinion would bring in many, many more would become fans if done well.

I loved this book, but everyone of Janet Chapman books are amazingly funny ,heartwarming and full of love and intrigue.
Everyone should read Janet Chapman books, there full of magic.

I wish they had the latest book in format Heart of a Hero. Janet Chapman is in a class of her own from the first page to the last, you don't want to put them down.
First off, I enjoy all of Janet Chapman's stories about the time-traveling highlanders.
This one was no exception. I find myself wishing the book was longer, and that I wasn't finished with it already. I can't wait for the next one in this series! I hope she always finds new people in all the little towns to write about with the highlanders and the magic!! You go Girl!! I will be waiting for the next one, please don't take too long!! and thanks for all the hours of fun that I have had in reading all of them!! I hope we see more of those great orca/wolfs!!!

What can I say but that Janet Chapman always delivers a wonderful love story with great characters. I have read all of her books and I guess it helps to know all the other people from previous books. If you are new to this author, try to read the first book in that series first. The cast of characters grow on you and you love to see them again and again as the series progresses. I am always on the look out for another author like this one but I have yet to find her. I have been reading most of my life ( I am now 62) and I almost can't keep up with all my favorites but I never forget to check for new books from Janet Chapman. Can't wait for the next one. I also love the letters she includes at the end of her books about life in Maine. Be sure to read those when you finish a book.
I was captured by the description of the woods and waterfalls and Maine scenery. Also the Scottish men and the way they take care of their families including the current hero Alec MacKeage and the protectivness he has over Carolina makes me warm and happy. His knowledge of the woods and the bond he has with his Uncle Duncan and that Alec isn't perfect that he has a few skeletons in his closet. The romantic scenes leaves one breathless and they come across real not phony and blend into the story not just their for a shock effect. I love the magic and wish we had a little in our lives, of course I guess we do as long as Janet Chapman keeps writing. I started reading her books about 5 or 6 back and then went and ordered all of hers including one I had to buy from a used book store since it seemed to be out of print. I have read everyone of them and could hardly wait for Courting Carolina to be published. Uh Oh! now I have to wait again. Hurry Janet!!
I discovered Janet Chapman's books several years before I bought my . I have loved every one that she has written, and believe me when I say, I have read everything I can find, that she has written. I've even read some, more than once. They are just that good. I have a fairly wide taste, when it comes to literature. But my favorite is romance, with a touch of the paranormal, sometimes, more than a touch... -) Janet never fails to deliver a wonderfully written book that captures one from the first page, and leaves you waiting for the next book, at the last page. I don't mean that she doesn't end the story well. She just makes you love "all" the characters in each book. Courting Carolina is a case in point. We got to meet both the hero and heroine in previous stories. Alec MacKeage is one of the "Wonderful" MacKeage men, and Carolina is Mac Oceanus' sister. But she is hiding under the name of Jane Smith. Alec figures out who she is very quickly. He just doesn't tell her. He and she think that she is trying to stay away from her, very powerful, meddling father, who is trying to force her to marry...Neither know the "real" reason she must marry...No spoilers, just saying that this is pure Janet magic... -) If you, too, enjoy your romance with a "touch" of magic, then I think you will love this book. It is funny, witty, and it doesn't drag on a single line. I can hardly wait for the next book. Hurry up, Janet.... -)
